* For 2008 Awards Dinner was a success.   Mae Cora Peterson, Hazel F. Wilson, Delores Simmons Brenda Whitley, Judge Glen Whitley ('08 honoree), Marilyn Ackmann
(SCS Board President), Senator Kim Brimer (SCS Board Member)   (President/CEO, United Way of Tarrant County) The event was a huge success with 340 in attendance to honor Judge Whitley. Gary Terry, SCS Board Member and Chairman of the Award Dinner Committee, opened the event with a thanks for coming, dinner is served.
The Invocation was given by SCS Board Member Rev. Michael Glaspie, Minister of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.
Marilyn Ackmann, SCS Board Chair, welcomed guests and asked they continue eating. She then introduced the EmCee for the evening, Eric Fox, Sr. Director, Governmental Relations, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Fort Worth, Texas.
Mr. Fox then introduced Carlton Lancaster, SCS Executive Director who gave a brief overview of SCS programs, services and history.
Dionne Bagsby, Retired, Tarrant County Commissioner provided her years of working with Judge Whitley.
Senator Kim Brimer, Member SCS Board of Directors, then provided his knowledge of Judge Whitley over the years.
Tim McKinney, President/CEO of the United Way of Tarrant County, who hails from Fort Worth, discussed his knowledge of the Judge.
Mayor Mike Moncrief spoke about his working with the Judge as a Senator and Mayor.
Beth Rivers, Corporate Chair of the Dinner and Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP - spoke briefly about her workings with the Judge.
The Tarrant County Commissioners then presented Judge Whitley with a proclomation.
Marilyn Ackmann and Gary Terry presented the Judge with his award as being honored the 2008 Outstanding Citizen for Seniors.
Judge Glen Whitley thanked everyone and spoke of how proud he was to be honored and those who spoke about him and his work.
